Well, the 5th episode of the show saw ratings explode- the show drew 25 million viewers and a HUGE 11.2/24 in adults, putting it tops on the week in adults and second in viewers. Go DH, go!

WOW the ratings keep getting bigger and bigger each week. I don't see any signs of it slowing down at all :)

I seriously doubt Alias will return to Sundays in January :)

I think that pretty much after the premiere, ABC knew the same thing. 25 million viewers is huge- it's the same kind of numbers "Friends" was doing three seasons ago when it finished tops on the season.

The only problem is "Boston Legal" at 10pm, which is losing 50% of its lead-in. ABC should move that to Mondays, Alias to Wednesdays at 9pm and try a new drama on Sundays.

I wonder how well it does on its Saturday repeat? I usually see it again in Saturday.

6.5 to 8 million viewers on average, winning the timeslot in adults. nothing spectacular, basically what ABC would get by airing a Disney Movie. Except with DH, they air the show for almost nothing in repeats.

The Saturday encores are now gone, so make sure to watch on Sundays. ABC has movies/college football for Saturdays for sweeps.

9:00 p.m. Alias (2 hour season premiere)
10:00 p.m. Wife Swap

MONDAYS, starting January 10
8:00 p.m. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How’d They Do That?
9:00 p.m. “The Bachelorette" (2 hour season premiere)
10:00 p.m. “Supernanny” (starts January 17)

Lost/Alias make a good pair.

As does Desperate Housewives/Boston Legal.

ABC is officially back in the game.

Fabulous, I was afraid ABC might screw up and move DH. Glad they didn't mess up on that one :)

ABC needs to find something better than boston Legal for next season. Nobody is expecting the show to draw 17 million viewers, but 11 is unacceptable, IMHO.

Bold moves by ABC for January, but I see them paying off big.

now that ABC is getting the right idea with it's drama/dramadies, it's time for them to focus on the comedies and be stricter on TGIF...

According to the futon critic, ABC has a new pilot or series about a mother who moves from NYC back to Arkansas or something and it said it'll be a Desperate Housewives companion seires or something...

THE FLYOVER STATES (ABC, New!) - Touchstone Television-based Vertikal Entertainment is developing a new drama at the Alphabet about a New York woman who moves back to her Arkansas hometown, with two teenage kids in tow, after her husband dies and rediscovers how things aren't just tawdry in the big city. Vertikal's Marla Ginsburg is expected to executive produce the project, which is being eyed as a "Desperate Housewives" companion series, while it's not clear how involved novelist Clint Catalyst ("Cottonmouth Kisses"), filmmaker Darren Stein and producer Jon Marcus ("Party Monster"), all of whom brought the project to Ginsburg, will be.

So that means that Boston Legal will be moving to another night soon.

My bet is that it'll be Thursday or something.

Because ABC has some midseason dramas coming, Eyes (starring My So Called Life's A.J. Langer), and Grey's Anatomy.

Those three will probably be on Thursdays.

Or maybe not...

I hope that Eyes does good!

I love A.J. Langer!

Well, that drama is for Fall 2004 consideration--it may or not make it. ABC still has not scheduled Eyes, Grey's Anatomy or Blind Justice, but I'm sure all three will NOT be on a Thursday. Blind Justice will take over for NYPD Blue in the winter I'm guessing. Grey's Anatomy was rumored for a post-DH slot in January, while Boston Legal is in reruns. And Eyes was rumored for a Friday 10pm slot for 6 episodes.

And last night's DH again hit a series high --17.5/24 in the overnights, fast national Nielsen ratings will be available soon. I'm predicting number one for the week among adults 18-49 and 2nd overall behind CSI for the week.

Friday at 10?

Isn't the 10pm Friday slot 20/20's landmark slot?

I doubt that they'd put it on there...and I'd hope not too, I don't want to see this show flop for A.J. Langer! :(

Ahh ok. BTW, I think you made a typo ;) Fall 2005 you meant, right? :)

I was thinking maybe they'll have Eyes on Wednesday at 10, but Wife Swap is on then! :o

Last spring they had another drama on Fridays at 10pm for 4 weeks, while 20/20 moved to Mondays at 8pm for a few weeks.

Yes, fall 2005 for that pilot.

I'm guessing that that show didn't do too good.

Anyone know what the ratings were for the episode last night, was it about 24 million or higher?

“America’s Funniest Home Videos” (7:00-8:00 p.m.) Opposite Fox’s NFL overrun in the hour, ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” delivered a solid second place in its time slot among Total Viewers (9.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (3.2/9). * “America’s Funniest Home Videos” delivered its largest audience and top Adult 18-49 rating this season, its strongest showing in the time period in more than 9 months – since 1/25/04.

“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (8:00-9:00 p.m.) Building on its strong lead-in, ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” took a strong first place in its hour among Total Viewers (18.2 million) and Adults 18- 49 (7.5/18), well ahead of its nearest competition (15.8 million – CBS & 3.8/9 – Fox). Randy Travis was a guest star on the episode.

* “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” posted the sophomore series’ second-highest numbers ever among viewers and young adults, second only to its performance 2- weeks ago, when it had a special airing of “Home Edition” as a lead-in.

“Desperate Housewives” (9:00-10:00 p.m.) ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” delivered a definitive first place in its time period among Total Viewers (24.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (11.0/24). * “Desperate Housewives” delivered a series high among Women 18-34, drawing nearly 1/3 of the available audience in the young women demographic (12.8/30). “Boston Legal” (10:00-11:00 p.m.) ABC’s “Boston Legal” ranked No. 1 in the 10 o’clock hour among Adults 18-49 (5.3/13). The show also took first in the time slot across the Men demographics: Men 18-34 (3.3/10), Men 18-49 (4.2/11) and Men 25-54 (5.0/12).

* “Boston Legal” achieved a series high among Adults 18-49. Source: Nielsen Media Research (Fast Affiliate Ratings) 11/21/04.

Please Note: ABC affiliates in Milwaukee and Houston pre-empted the Network’s programming on the night to carry the late ESPN NFL game (Green Bay-Houston). Therefore, the fast affiliate ratings for the night currently also include the numbers for football in those markets, and are subject to change once the final ratings are released on Tuesday.
