During the opening credits during the Valerie years, there was a scene, where the entire family, including Michael, are up in the attic. They are looking at something that Valerie is holding. Valerie's hair is straight, so the episode had to be from 1986.
Does anyone know? Was it a scene from an early second season episode that got cut out?

I don't know for sure, but I'd have to say that the scene was used specifically for the opening credits only. There were plenty of scenes for the credits of all the seasons that were not taken from specific episodes and there's no reason to think it's different in this case.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. After reviewing the opening credits, almost all of the scenes were filmed specifically for the opening credits.

Are there any scenes in the opening credits from an episode?

Only 1 clip was used from an actual episode... it was used in the first two seasons and was a clip of Mike putting his arms around Willie and David with Valerie on the right and Mark behind them as Mike tells the story of how he got his football scar. All other clips were ones filmed solely for use of the intro.

What about the scene where it credits Christine Ebersold, She walks in the door and says, "It's me!" That scene was used in the episode where Willie's doing poor in science.
