I am a regular viewer of tvland and i am disguested at the fact that tvland always has to shrink back the closing credits to our favorite shows, such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, Bewitched, Sanford and Son... just to advertise what is coming up next... why not put a preview of what is coming up next after the show has ended, or just simply annouce it instead of going on and on about it.

Nick at Nite does it too, as does ABC Family, TBS, TNT, so this isn't a new thing, all networks basically do this. :(

yea, unfortunately, it's the only way they can show what's coming on next, because they have to show more commercials, as do other stations, since that's what helps pay for the shows, and the prices keep going up. So the problem's only gonna get worse in the future.
I've always said, one day, TV's gonna just be one commercial after another.

 Yep, pretty soon, we'll have 5 minutes of show, and the rest commercials ohno:
Disney Channel is the only channel I know that doesn't shrink back the credits.

If they didn't do a promo during the closing credits they'd have to hack more time out of the episodes. I'm still laughing at the gaul of cable stations having to air as many or more commercials than broadcast networks. You'd think that since viewers are subscribing to something like TVLand they would be able to see UNCUT episodes with the same amount of commercial time as when those shows were originally broadcast in primetime.
Goodlife doesn't shrink or do voiceovers with their closing credits. And of course, they air their shows entirely uncut.
Sci-Fi and GSN are definitly the worse. Back when I watched Dark Shadows on Sci-Fi, it pissed me off, because whenever a promo didn't run as long as DS's closing credits, they actually threw in short animations of the Sci-Fi logo. It really got on my nerves. It was like they had some kind of mission to not let DS viewers watch the credits.

I agree, they should air them uncut. I know Family Channel in Canada airs their shows uncut and commercial free, they do the commercials before and after the shows. They still manage to squeeze in the same amount of commercial time.
Makes me wonder if most networks are that hard up? I mean my god they do promos while were watching the shows as it is, now we have to be subjected to them at the end of the show as well ohno:

I think the all-time worst move is what PAX does with the ending of "Bonnanza". Not only do they shrink the credits, they also have them so faded, you can hardly even see them!
That's why I'm glad TV LAND doesn't do it with ALL the "Bonanza" episodes.

I wish networks would treat TV shows like HBO treats movies...commercials before the program starts....

Speaking of PAX Treky, how is the quality of the programs? I get it in the Boston area and it is terrible. A poor a bit blurred picture. Dianosis Murder runs on that station and I swear it far worst quality than it was when it was in production 10 years ago. Maybe our station has old fashion analog. It the only station with poor playback quality. Looks like video of the 1950's

Hallmark does the same with the Bonanza ending credits they shrink them back for something stupid like what is coming up next and then a weekend movie... I would have to say Hallmark now.

But, Bonnanza's the only thing I watch on there, and I only watch it every now and then because of what they do with the closing credits.

I was watching the original ending of "The Honeymooners" in a newly discovered "Love Letter" episode and at the end, while the original credits are rolling where the announcers giving out staff names, TV Land screwed this voiceover thing to promote the "Andy Griffith Show" at the end where they showed the 50's CBS logo and a Paramount (aka Viacom) logo while it was still shrinking. That's a shame that TV Land shinks the ending credits while they promoting the show.

Yes they were starting to do that with the Gunsmoke episodes i am trying to tape and put onto DVD for myself and they screwed the endings up by shrinking the ending credits back for a stupid promo for the andy griffith show top 10 episodes... come on now just put that into a commmerical after the ending credits are over don't shrink them back with an annoying little joke about the next up and coming episode. I think Tvland is bad or has become bad with the shrinking of the closing credits... but i feel from watching tv this summer that the Hallmark channel is the worse with the ending credits they shrink them back really little to tell you what is coming up and then to advertise for an up coming movie. What is next shrinking back the show while it's in progress to advertise? LoL.

I signed a petition on petionsonline.com (I think that's the site) to TV LAND asking them to stop that, but that was 3 years ago,, so it's obviously done a hell of a lot of good!
Oh well, at least they don't do it all the time.
