Don't you knowing by posting that that people will post in objection to your lame opinion of the show than they would've already. It's a discussion board, so it is our business. But more than that, affairs and murders have been around longer than this tv show. If you don't like it, turn off the damn tv.

It's a damn tv show. Don't assume that everyone who'll watch this is so stupid that they can't separate fact from fiction and run around having affairs. WTF? Do you get this worked up hearing about another American soldier being killed in Iraq? If you're gonna get upset about something, let it be something of more substance than Desperate Housewives.

By the way, did I mention yet that I liked the show? I missed the tail end when I saw the first post in this thread, good thing I was recording it. I get angry when people blame television for perceived real-life immorality. There's a remote control to turn off the tv if you don't want to see it, and there's a mirror if you want someone to be accountable for someone's actions. Stop using television as a scapegoat.

I thought the show was fantastic - way better than most of the crappy shows that have been filling the airwaves for the last few seasons. Hopefully this show will last a long time - this is going to be the first current show I'm going to follow regularly in a long, long time...
Well least im not a drunken alcoholic like you.

Where the hell have you been? Ever heard of soap operas? They show just about the same material - if not more. If you want to see some real filth, turn on ABC, NBC, or CBS anytime from 11AM - 3PM. And they've been on for decades. I'm not too fond of the show either (mainly because I don't like soaps) but Jesus, can you be any more of an *******? People can watch what they want whether or not it meets your approval.
I loved it, IMO it's the best new drama to debut in a LONG time. I think it will be the biggest hit of the year, and could help ABC rise ahead of the other networks :)

If you weren't one of my good friends, I'd rip you to shreads, but I digress :p
Soaps have been around since...like 1933. DH isn't the first, and certainly not the last, primetime soap. Ever hear of a little show called Dallas? Dynasty, perhaps?
I LOVED this show! Everything I expected and MORE. It was absolutely excellent and I hope the ratings mirror that. I look forward to spending many, many years on Wisteria Lane!

Critics are calling this show the suburban Sex & The City. It's getting great reviews from the review sites I've read. But I haven't seen it (I don't live in the US) so I can't judge.

I kinda like that the networks seem to be using Saturday as a repeat night, giving people a second chance to see these shows. There's been so much I've wanted to sample. I watched the 2 hour "Lost" rebroadcast ABC had last night. I hope all the networks continue with second chance viewings.

Well, I didn't mean filth perse, but it's just something that doesn't interest me. My main point is I don't see why anyone would have a problem with it, because the same types of shows have been running for YEARS, yet a word has never been said before.

Great, great show. ABC's on a roll with Lost, and now this. Hopefully it draws some big ratings. Every year ABC premieres a few shows that you think will break out, but somehow they get lost in the shuffle and are quickly cancelled. But with Lost and Wife Swap, this is finally ABC's year.
I absolutely loved Teri Hatcher, especially when she burnt down the neighbours house. Hilarious! And Marica Cross is reminding me of Kimberly from MP, and her line "Well, I feel badly about that" was gold.

Amen to you both. I agree -- it's entertainment, and there's a choice. Turn the TV off, or on. Go see a movie, or don 't. But don't point the finger like that...ya know?
Desperate Housewives was good -- I thought it might be a chick-show despite its excellent ratings but actually, I really digged it. The cast is hot, the cast is talented, the writing was good, there was the perfect amount of unanswered questions and dark humor....I'll be tuning in regularly I think...

Desperate Housewives
It would go without saying that Mary Alice Young, having blown her own brains out, is the luckiest one on Wisteria Lane. But now she's gotta stick around, watch her former "loved" ones and "friends" and tell us about it. Which means we're the luckiest ones on the block, 'cause we get to watch. Sure, it owes a lot to forebears like American Beauty and Blue Velvet, but I'm liking it.
Worth noting: casting the unsettling Teri Hatcher is truly inspired, and choosing the even more unsettling Nicolette Sheridan is a flat-out stroke of genius. 'Cause to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure they're acting. Matter of fact, I'm fairly certain they're not.
But Felicity Huffman proves once again that no matter what you toss her into, she's sure to shine. And bonus points for Huffman's Lynette nearly breaking hubby's nose after his cavalier "let's risk it" it comment.

Among adults 18-49, ABC scored a bigger win with a 5.5 rating in the key demographic. CBS stuck around in second with a 3.6 rating. NBC's 3.1 rating and the 2.4 for FOX followed. The WB stayed in fifth with a 1.2 rating.
CBS began the night in first with a 10.1/18 for "60 Minutes." Another newsmagazine, "Dateline NBC," was second with a 5.9/11. ABC started off in third with "America's Funniest Home Videos." On FOX, repeats of "King of the Hill" and "The Simpsons" averaged a 3.8/7. The WB was last with "Steve Harvey's Big Time."
At 8 p.m. CBS stayed on top with a 10.5/17 for "Cold Case." ABC improved to second with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," which did an 8.3/13. NBC was nearly off the radar in third with the 4.9/8 for "American Dreams." FOX's "Rush Hour 2" screening outperformed the 2.7/4 for "Charmed" on The WB.
ABC grabbed first for the 9 p.m. hour as "Desperate Housewives" burst onto the scene with an unexpectedly impressive 13.4/20 premiere, by far the night's most watched program. The first hour of CBS' "Suburban Madness" made only a ripple with a 7.7/12, still edging the 7.2/11 for NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." FOX stayed fourth with its movie. On The WB, the recently renewed "Jack & Bobby" did only a 1.6/2 for the night.
The premiere of "Practice" spin-off "Boston Legal" scored a strong 9.0/15 to win the 10 p.m. hour for ABC. NBC was up to second with the 8.4/14 for "Crossing Jordan," as the CBS original movie was third.

Michael Ausiello’s Entertainment News
DELIGHTED HOUSEWIVES: It's official: Hit-starved ABC is on the comeback trail. Roughly 21 million viewers sampled the network's acclaimed new dramedy Desperate Housewives Sunday night, making it the night's most-watched program by a landslide and sending Law & Order: Criminal Intent to its lowest scores (possibly) ever. Housewives marks ABC's second hit of the new fall season; the net's castaway thriller Lost debuted last month to boffo numbers as well. Meanwhile, ABC's Practice spin-off Boston Legal won its 10 pm-Sunday time slot with 13 million viewers.

I saw the show. Thought it was a hoot. Yes it is sexy but there are lines the character said that I can relate too. Meeting someone who haven't see in a while and "saying oh life is just great". It could be on at a later time 10pm to keep the youngsters from tuning in. It isn't much different than Peyton Place maybe a bit more describtive. I did notice it was one show that had all four tv codes. d,v s l in the little box in the beginning of the show. I like the deceased narratting.

This definitely ABC's year.

Wow, this is drawing a lot more contraversey then I expected.
I liked it, except for one huge mistake. The show starts out with this lady recalling events that happened after her suicide. How on earth are you supposed to recall events that happened after your suicide, YOU'RE DEAD? But once I got passed that I found that it had some good storylines.

That wasn't a mistake, it was intended all along for the dead character to narrate the goings-on in the neighborhood.
