I don't plan on buying anything this week. However, there's a slight chance of Make Room For Daddy being purchased.

yep. "These Friends Of Mine" was renamed "Ellen" during the summer of 94. I remember seeing TFOM episodes having the "Ellen" moniker.

I wonder if the DVD will use the original TFOM credits or the summer 94 "Ellen" credits.

I will be buying, 227: Season 1, Land of the Lost: Season 2, The Joey Bishop Show: Season 2 and Make Room For Daddy: Season 5, I may choose to buy all of these either this week or sometime soon. However, I may buy Ellen: Season 1, I'm not sure if I will or not yet. All I know that this will be the biggest week for me as for buying DVD's.

Eternal Sunshine was great, but I can wait 6 months until Best Buy has it in a "2 for $20" or "2 for $15" bin. That always is the case with movies. I rarely "must have" movies unless theyre Disney or Star Wars or personal all time faves.

Just did a quick survey of the Amazon.com sales rankings for some of this weeks tv-dvds. I assume it's based on how many orders they have for each one. At first I was surprised to see 227 so low but it's probably due to people more likely picking it up cheaper in stores than online. The most expensive set is ranked the highest.

11. Star Trek: Voyager 4
19. Strangers With Candy 3
31. In Living Color 2
69. Ellen 1
93. Degrassi 1
114. Homicide Life on the Street 5
152. Dark Shadows 14
273. Land of the Lost 2
300. Silk Stalkings 1
340. Crank Yankers 1
609. 227 1
2,114. Make Room For Daddy 5

I picked up 227 today. Great show. Who'd have guessed Regina King would go on to such a good career

I am very happy that 227 is using the "Embassy" logo at the end of each episode. I know Diff'rent Strokes removed those. Did The Jeffersons? I know they were an Embassy show too.

for those of you who were "I wouldn't have bought Ellen so soon if I knew Oxygen would premiere it in 2 weeks", Oxygen, much like Lifetime, skipped the first season and went straight into season 2. I don't think these "These Friends Of Mine" episodes have been aired since 1994.

Silly question, but is it possible that maybe the rights for "These Friends of Mine" might not have been bought by Oxygen? Even if they renamed it, would the rights be separate?

I know silly question

really not sure. TFOM was renamed Ellen in summer 94 and the renamed titlecard is what is used on the DVD. But neither Lifetime or Oxygen have aired season one to my knowledge, but A&E is releasing the entire series.

When Lifetime started airing "Ellen" back in 1998, they started with "These Friends of Mine." I remember because it was the first time I'd ever seen that season. I think they skipped it during some cycles, but they did show it. I have the season on tape from Lifetime. However, when they started showing it last year (or whenever Lifetime brought it back) they started with season 2. And I guess they never did show the 1st season.
