The movie was pretty cool, but they TOTALLY screwed up the family tree!!!! And I wish they gave Carel Struycken (Lurch, in case you didn't know. I hope I spelled it right!!!;) ) some real lines!!!!

IMO the movie was not a spin off the TV show, but based on the old cartoons as was the series. So we should not compare them to each other.

At least the first two...
The chemistry was there and Christopher Lloyd was a wonderful FESTER....when he was playing Fester.
In the second movie, he actually got to BE Fester as opposed to the original where he was Gordon playing Fester who evetually became Fester again. Make sense?
I thought the Addams Family reunion was VERY bad...and no offence to Daryl Hannah fans, but she couldn't pull it off. Direct to video indeed.
Angelica Huston was good, but NOT my favorite Tish.
Rest in Peace

Yes. Mama was supposed to be Gomez' mama, not Morticia's and Uncle Fester was HER uncle.
BUT it made for an interesting plotline. :bored:
I bet originally they had decided that Fester was indeed an ersatz brother, and in truth, Gordon. The scene where Gordon's mom is looking at a pic of Fester, she'd said: "That [ Fester ] and my little boy..." [Gordon] I bet she was holding TWO pics, not one as seen. But they must've decided that Fester must be the REAL Fester, and not just adopted by the Addamses, because he fit in so well--which I feel was the original idea.
But the first film had the advantage of first movie exposition: like City Slickers is better than Curly's Gold. You don't just meet the characters, you see them through a transformation, learning something about themselves, and coming closer to their friends/family. I always prefer stories like that, as opposed to the "pure adventure story" an episodic like Curly's Gold or the 2nd one, with Fester being pursued by some gold digger. So where's Flora and Fauna the Siamese [ conjoined ] twins?
:stooges:
I loved the movie. I enjoyed references to the tv show, but I wish there were more (I really did want to see the rope hanging that summons Lurch and Morticia's chair). I liked that they constructed a mansion, but I do not like how the mansions (outside and inside) were completely different in both movies. I am a stickler for continuity, and they lost points with that. I also think that the plots could've been better, because both movies were centered around deception and someone trying to steal the Addams' money.
