There are certain songs out there that seem to reflect the relationship of Maddie and Dave perfectly...songs that make me think of ML and the great chemistry between the two leads every time I hear them.

One of my favorites is a country song performed by American Idol's Josh Gracin. It's called "Endless Helpless Hoping." Here are the lyrics:

Let me understate how I adore
How I admire and more
And walk a hole in the floor
Like a fast freight train
Screamin' through the dark
Makin' a penny of my heart
And that's just where it starts

Chorus:
My lonely nights turn to days
My lonely days turn to how my life is goin'
Endless, helpless hoping
I can dream and I can believe
But you're the only one who can
Heal this heart that's broken
Endless, helpless hoping

All the words I write just don't impress
They don't leave my desk
And like me, it's a mess
I try to tell you
But you tell me that you're my friend
How could I let that end?
So I just let you love him

(Chorus)

Now I know how a widow
Staring at the sea feels
Waitin' for a ship to come home
Waitin' there all alone

(Chorus)

If you have a song that makes you think of ML, please let me know what it is, and post the lyrics if you can.

BTW: This is the Moonlighting board's 100th thread! Yay for us! party:

Here's another one. It's called "Crazy for this Girl" by Evan and Jaron. Here are the lyrics:

She rolls the window down
And she
Talks over the sound
Of the cars that pass us by
And I don't know why
But she's changed my mind

Chorus:
Would you look at her
She looks at me
She's got me thinking about her constantly
But she don't know how I feel
And as she carries on without a doubt
I wonder if she's figured it out
I'm crazy for this girl
I'm crazy for this girl

She was the one to hold me
The night
The sky fell down
And what was I thinking when
The world didn't end?
Why didn't I know what I know now?

(Chorus)

Right now
Face to face
All my fears
Pushed aside
And right now
I'm ready to spend the rest of my life
With you

(Chorus 2x)

I guess I don't connect any songs that weren't used in the show with David and Maddie. I've seen some mentioned that seem to have lyrics that fit, but that doesn't really work for me. The actual music of the show is what I most associate with them. Most especially, Be My Baby, Since I Fell for You, and This Old Heart of Mine.

I agree with CyBr (again).
When I think of music and Moonlighting, I think of the songs that were on the show that meant so much to me.

Since I Fell For You
Be My Baby
It's In His Kiss (Shoop Shoop Song, I believe)
When A Man Love A Woman
Blue Moon
Crazy
Respect
Stormy Weather
Someone To Watch Over Me
I Told You I love You, Now Get Out
...

Oh yeah! These are all great! I can picture the scene(s) for each of them in my mind. The music they chose was always so perfect which is why it would be a shame if any of it is replaced or not included in the DVDs.

Ohh I love all that songs and of cuorse that they make me think about ML. And there are two more here:

The "Limbo" song (my mom and I always sing it, I love it, I always remember Dave singing it)

Baby love (well, I don't really know the name of the song but it's from The supremes, the one that Maddie and David are dancing with in a Womb with a view. But It's a sad memory, really:( )

Oooh Carina, when I hear those two songs, I think of ML everytime. I thought the music chosen for Moonlighting was terrific. Was Glenn in charge of music selection?

I love moonlighting's music!
each song was perfect for each scene!

what about Patti Labelle: If you only knew
Ray Charles: We'll be together again
(sad but beautiful!)
Stevie Wonder: I was made to love her
Anita Baker: Sweet love

And ofcourse the Moonlighting Theme by Al Jarreau (still one of my all time favourites! The music and lyrics are perfectly expressing the feel of the show)

I forgot:
Songs that remind of the show are:

Allan Parsons Project: Old and Wise
Gladys Knight: If I were your woman
Charles Aznavour: She

and a couple more........

Whenver I hear "You Wear it Well" by DeBarge I immediately think of when it was played during the scene of Maddie walking into the casino all dressed up in "Money Talks, Maddie Walks." That one should have been on the ML soundtrack.

Same here.

Whenever I hear Honky Tonk Woman, I think of Maddie in The Color Of Maddie.

I think of Cybill, also, because of Memphis in the lyrics.

Yeah it is ....... isn't it? And as this song starts playing..............
I can imagine David sitting behind his desk thinking of Maddie and meanwhile we get to see his thoughts: a slowmo of David and Maddie walking and running around on the beach, then fall in the sand and start to kiss ....... then his office door bangs open and there she is standing in the doorway looking like she did on "The Lady with the Iron Mask".

pfeeeew 'She may be a dream I can't forget.....'

Hi guys,
I think of Moonlighting whenever I hear a motown song. Remember the Temptations singing "Psychedelic Shack"?
Sam Cooke makes me think of Moonlighting...."I leave you all my Sam Cooke records", and the song "Money", from "My Fair David".

And of course songs like "Respect Yourself", "Under the boardwalk", and "Secret agent man", 'cause they were all on "The Return of Bruno".

I'm Lovin' it!!

I can see where you're coming from with that.

For me, Billy Joel is another memory-refresher. Every time I hear one of his songs, I think of Dave. I'm not sure if it's because of "Big Man" or not, but Billy and Bruce have always reminded me of each other. *shrugs*

For me it's the song "Lady in Red" from Chris DeBurgh. It makes me think of seeing Maddie in a red dress and David dancing with her (lol, my imagination:rolleyes: ) And also the song "She's Always A Woman To Me" from Billy Joel. It makes me think of the banters, but that they also love eachother.

OMG, I was just gonna say that.

Every time I hear it, I can't help but think of Maddie and Dave. It's one of my favorite Billy Joel songs...so sweet. :biglove:

Here are the lyrics...just in case anybody doesn't know the song.

She can kill with a smile
She can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals
What she wants you to see
She hides like a child
But she's always a woman to me

She can lead you to love
She can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth
But she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her
As long as it's free
She steals like a thief
But she's always a woman to me

Oh, she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out
And she never gives in
She just changes her mind

She will promise you more
Than the Garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you
And laugh while you're bleedin'
But she'll bring out the best
And the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself
'Cause she's always a woman to me

She is frequently kind
And she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases
She's nobody's fool
But she can't be convicted
She's earned her degree
And the most she will do
Is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

If there is ever gonna be a compilation of the "To Heiress Human" episode, then they should play "Hit" by Drizabone.

the lyrics are just right for Maddie in heat thinking of Dave.

Sometimes when I think about you boy
I can't help myself
Don't want nothing else
in my life
I can feel what you're doing
And I know it ain't right
But I can't help myself
There's nothing I can do

Sometimes when I need you here
it hurts so bad
But I know it's too late
there's no turning back

Keep giving me your hit
Keep on giving me your hit
And everytime we're making love
it's the same thang
Ooh I get weak,
so don't you ever quit
keep on giving me your hit
i'm waiting on your loving ,to satisfy me

I've tried, shaking the habit boy
but I can't help myself
there ain't nothing else
without you
Cause I know what you're doing and It's making me high
every night and day
there's nothing I can say

Sometimes when I'm laying here
I'm so afraid
That I give it all and
you ain't gonna change

The way you keep giving me your hit
Keep on giving me your hit
And everytime we're making love
it's the same thing
OOOh I get weak
so don't you ever quit
keep on giving me your hit
I'm waiting on your loving , ooh yeah

I wanna get high
one more time
Don't make me wait to long!
It ain't no use
I'm hooked on you
What can I do

aaahh giving me
you're giving me your hit yeah

Ooooh you giving me hit,
keep on giving me your hit
And everytime we're making love
it's the same thing
OOOh I get weak
so don't you ever quit
keep on giving me your hit
i'm waiting on your loving ,to satisfy me

whoaah the way you touch me baby

hit,
keep on giving me your hit
And everytime we're making love
it's the same thing
OOOh I get weak
so don't you ever quit
keep on giving me your hit
i'm waiting on your loving

I heard "You're in my Heart" by Rod Stewart on the radio recently and it immediately brought to mind Moonlighting. Particularly the chorus -

You're in my heart, you're in my soul
You'll be my breath should I grow old
You are my lover, you're my best friend
You're in my soul

My love for you is immeasurable
My respect for you immense
You're ageless, timeless, lace and fineness
You're beauty and elegance

You're a rhapsody, a comedy
You're a symphony and a play
You're every love song ever written
But honey what do you see in me

Tamm -- whenever I hear a Rod Stewart song (especially lately), Maddie and David always come to my mind! My kids bought me one of his CDs for Christmas and I love to listen to it -- but that's because the songs remind me of Moonlighting for some reason.

Great Moonlighting minds think alike. :D

I've been in Rome for the last few days, where I had a fantastic time (but don't get me started on that or I'll never shut up!), so my only consolation in coming home was the fact that my Moonlighting soundtrack had FINALLY arrived.

It was so good to hear the full versions of the two Dream Sequence songs! And I love Good Lovin'! It just makes me want to get up and DANCE! :D

Some of the songs, I didn't think I knew but when I heard them I recognised them. I wish they had what episode each song is from though, rather than just a picture.

Which episode is 'This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You)' by The Isley Brothers from? I recognise all the pictures in the booklet-y thing except that one.

Hi Sweetcakes,

This Old Heart of Mine was from the episode "Knowing Her" in which David's old girl friend (played by the very cute Dana Delany) comes back into his life. Of course, we are all very jelouse right along with Maddie about it, but I still have to say that the scene where this song was used was very romantic. She is taking such advantage of David at this moment, and he has no idea, swept away by his old feelings for her.

The song was perfect.

When it originally aired, I was motivated to go out and find the Isley Brothers record (yes, record) album just to hear it again. Interestingly, as I recall, that song didn't get much air play on oldies stations before Moonlighting, but now, I do hear it! It's like Moonlighting made it a Motown standard, whereas before, it wasn't. Here's another interesting factoid about records made back then by "colored" singers and groups: the records often did not show them on the cover for the record companies' fear that they would loose sales to whites. We have come a long way.

Thank you so much for that cece! The whole record label thing is really interesting!

I've not seen that episode so that would probably explain why I don't recognise the picture :D

Oh, you are very welcome. I had also intended to say that this song, for me, has the strongest association with Moonlighting than any other they used. So, it doesn't just remind me of Moonlighting, it IS Moonlighting. I think it's because I had very rarely heard it before the show, unlike most of the other tunes. You will enjoy the episode; it's very revealing of David's character. And the lyrics are so appropriate for the occasion-another example of the show's excellence.

Ciao!

When Love was all we had worth giving

Loving you makes life worth living"

Baby Love also reminds me of Moonlighting and Maddie and David.

SO many of the songs from ML bring back such great memories to me.
