I always wondered why they never made an attempt to try to resurrect the ropers after Sommers left and they only had furley and larry as supporting players. In my opinion there was still room for the ropers and mr.furley on the show at the same time. They could of at least made guest appearances before the show went off the air, i know they made that one appearance when cindy was there but i thought they could of done alot more, i enjoyed the episode when stanley thought helen and furley were having an affair.

Well, they couldn't come back because Ralph had to stay in that apartment, because I guess that's where the landlord has to live, and I don't think that because Chrissy left, that there was room in that small apartment for the Ropers.

If The Ropers didn't go into that Second Season they would have been back on Three's Co. But since they lasted 2 seasons they didn't come back. Producers said they would have been back if it didn't last 1 season.

Money was also an issue, according to "Come and Knock on Our Door". Norman Fell was told that they had one actor (Don Knotts) doing the job, which was cheaper than bringing back two. Also, Audra Lindley was just as happy to move on.
