I would say it's a TIE. Both were funny as hell when they lost their temper. James wasn't as loud as George but both characters were the funniest when they were upset. It's a shame these characters never were in the same scene.

Definitely George....although I loved when James would use the word 'yang-yang' (like "Florida better not be givin' me any of that yang-yang!")

A tie. I loved James' expression when he was mad. too much. And George always has me rolling especially when he strut/stomps out of the room.

James had some good moments like when he yelled at Florida a woman are good for only two things..."The kitchen and bedroom! The kitchen and the bedroom!"
George on the other hand was hysterical. Here was this short guy ready to box somebody twice his size because they pissed him off.

George was funnier, James was scary in a "little kid about to get spanked by his father" kind of way.

George Jefferson I do not think when James Evans is mad is remotely funny; especially after watching The Family Gun episode...

I'm going to have to go with George. He had more punchlines when he was going off on somebody..he had a comeback for everything! James was more your average father type that goes back to old saying and hip talk to put you in your place. He was also more emotional and passionate when he got mad. George was just a little firecracker suffering from the Napoleon complex.
Plus, you're analyzing 2 totally different characters in 2 totally different socio economic classes. So it's difficult to compare in my opinion. George would get mad and go off on somebody b/c they didn't want a black man in their country club. James would get mad b/c he coudn't get a job, or the uppity black folks didn't want their daughter going with JJ to the debutante.
Just my thoughts. :D

George was like J.J. a jive turkey.
One thing that cracked me up about James is when they thought the apartment might be bugged and J.J. started talking into a lamp jokingly saying hello.
I remember James staring at him for a minute or two and then couldnt take it anyomore and screamed "WILL YOU STOP TALKING INTO THAT LAMP"!!!!!!!!!!
Now that was funny.

I'm going to go with James Evans, because John Amos really looked like he was about to lose it.
I thought George was funnier than James when he was upset. James could be a little frightening sometimes when he was angry & upset.

George was the funnier one. I loved James but George was so comical that I wanted to slap him.

Yes! I always felt that way whenever James was ready to blow his top, too. Not that he was never funny, but he really could be a little frightening. So I'm gonna have to go with George.

But at the end of the day, both will always be very memorable TV Dads when they were in a BAD MOOD-lol

I misread the topic and voted for George. The funniest when upset for me would be James for sure. Like the ep when those two thugs that hassled JJ for some of that money felt the wrath of James. That was hysterical. I thought the topic was "who was funnier?" If it were that alone, I would have voted for George.
