 Why wouldn't you buy them? Money?

Right now I won't buy The Simpsons or Frasier - but that's because I've already spent a lot on Cheers.
...Well actually...come to think of it, I don't know about buying The Simpsons because it's played so much on TV. I know I'll be seeing episodes for a long time. But as for Cheers...I'm not sure how much longer they'll be showing reruns and the times on N@N are really inconvenient.

Money's a factor. Plus I already have all of the episodes of those shows on tape.

Ah ok. That makes sense. I wish I had taped stuff.

I think the ONLY factor that should stop someone from buying a TV show they like on DVD is money.

Taping them off of TV is NOT the same.
Unless you have very high quality tapes and have the original network airings.... then you have a 1-up on DVD owners.

If I like a show.... I'll buy it on DVD.
I can't think of one show I like that I wouldn't buy on DVD.

(I used to say The King of Queens.... but after it came to syndication, I decided I will eventually buy it on DVD)

That sounds good.

Everyone, pretend that I said that. ;)

I wouldn't buy anything I could see over and over again on Nick@Nite or TVLand, etc.

Only shows that they don't show on TV a lot, then I would buy the DVDs for.

Same here. I LOVE being able to own all my favorite shows on dvd and watch them whenever I want. That's basically where all my money goes. The only reason I wouldn't buy something is if I feel I'm overdosing and need to go to Dvd Buyers Anonymous. Otherwise, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't buy a show I like. Hell, my favorite purchase is of a show I previously hadn't even seen. (Freaks & Geeks)

Season 1 of the Simpsons. It stunk, so I won't buy it unless it's only like a buck.

Everybody Loves Raymond. I will only buy classic shows from the 50s to the 80s. Those shows are edited when broadcast on TV, shows from the 90s to today are aired complete, except with some minor modifcations (like a number of episodes of The Simpsons in syndication).

Virtually all reruns that air in broadcast syndication are edited to add in more commercials. Granted, they are not edited as severely as shows from earlier days, simply because shows from that earlier era were longer, since network TV had fewer commercials back then. But, "Everybody Loves Raymond", "Seinfeld", and other shows from the 90s are edited for syndication.

Cosby Show, Full House, Friends

All are all over syndicated stations.

It all comes down to money for me. I only have so much of it and there has to be enough to go around. I was at Barnes & Noble the other day and I saw so many shows (and movies) I wanted to get. But there are only a handful that I really have to buy. M*A*S*H and Buffy.

I would never buy Seinfeld or Everybody Loves Raymond, or any of the shows that I like to watch but would not like to buy. Basically, shows I watch for fun when they are on but would not mind missing.

Of course, if someone were to give them away...

Do NOT buy from Barnes & Noble, they have terrible prices.
Check online, or a store like Walmart or Bestbuy -- you'll be glad you did.

The only reason I have Season 1 is because my uncle bought it for me for Christmas.

www.deepdiscountdvd.com Sometimes they aren't much cheaper, then other times, the savings are astounding!

I got that as well as seasons 2 and 3 for $15 each awhile back, so I felt like I got my moneys worth.

Season 1 was probably the worst but there were a few classic episodes to it IMO that for $15, I couldn't pass up, like Krusty Gets Busted, Call Of The Simpsons and Bart The General... but while I didn't mind paying $30 for season 4 (which was perhaps their best season), I would've minded paying that much for season 1.

How are you getting these so cheap? Ebay?

if you like it but not enough to spend $40 on a season set, seasons 1-5 all have "best of" sets with like 4 episodes each that are now deleted but you can get on ebay for $3-5 easily. I almost debated skipping season 5 and getting the "Insult To Injuries" set instead, since it contains 3 of the 5 "great" episodes from that season (Cripple Fight, Scott Tenorman Must Die and It Hits The Fan)

the week season 4 came out, FYE ran a promotion which had seasons 1, 2 and 3 on sale for $14.99 each, just a one-time only special. Barwars also picked a few of them up with that offer.

Definately one of the greatest deals I've ever seen.

Eventually, I plan on getting all of those, besides The Osbournes.

Here's my new list of shows I like, but not enough to buy on DVD....

The Osbournes
Punk'd
Boiling Points
The Man Show (original hosts only)
and The Amazing Race

I would never buy the cosby show, Mash or Goodtimes on dvd because I have seen nearly all of the episodes and I would probably not even watch the dvds...

as much as I love Buffy, I could never see myself buying Angel DVD's. That is definately a series that would benefit from a "best of" set, if they released a set including the Seth Green/James Marsters crossover episode from season 1, the 2 Buffy crossover episodes from season 1, the 2 Hannigan episodes from season 2 and the 1 season 4 appearence, and that'd be ALL the Angel I'd need on DVD.

I can't handle watching season 1 considering EVERYONE besides Angel is dead now (sorry if I spoiled the last season for everyone)

the only sitcom that i love, that i probably wouldnt buy is Golden Girls and Home Improvement, at least not until i have all the other dvd sets i really want

even with first seasons that i didnt get excited for like "boy meets world" and "garfield and friends" , i bought them, not just because of future releases but also because there is a good amount of episodes i love and with BMW the commentaries were just worth it IMO

the next dvd sets i HAVE to get are BMW Season2 , Lizzie Mcguire Season 1, and Gargoyles.

same here.. With Golden Girls, I like it, but I can't justify spending $50 on a show that airs 8 times a day, especially since the only extra is a commentary track of Joan Rivers probably spending the whole time making fun of the series.
