I'm good. Pharmocology Katie. :p

Percodan has oxycodone (weeeeeeeee) and aspirin.

Percocet has oxycodone and tylenol. Personally, I prefer straight oxycodone. W/ tylenol it's kind of watered down.

Me neither. That's why I like pain medicine without it. "They say" that tylenol mixed with it in the pill even effects the outcome of the narcotic for some reason. I agree, because plain oxycodone works better for me than oxycodone mixed with tylenol (percocet).

Cochlear implants? I know of those a little and yeah, they don't work for everybody. I'm hoping there is tons of research out there to find other cures...

Nope...I don't qualify...You have to be under 5 years old, I think...or you have to have previously had hearing...Something like that. It's like $10K or more for ONE ear. Yeah...not sure about the price...but there's no way in hell I"m doing it...

fucking insurance. I hate it. This is something it should REALLY cover. It's not like it's something that is cosmetic. Maybe one doesn't need it to live, but many surgeries are covered well by insurances that aren't needed to live. I just don't see how they decide where to draw their retarded lines.

I saw a documentary on Scientific American Frontiers about a woman who got them. She was in her late 20s or early 30s. They worked for her, but she also needed a hearing aid.

Plus, adjusting to being able to hear was really difficult at first.

On one of my Pearl Jam DVDs, there's a sign language interpreter there. She actually gets invited onstage by the band for one of the songs.

No offense to anyone, but why the hell would a deaf person go to a Pearl Jam concert?

There were some other stuff that you could qualify for...So, yep, you can qualify if you're in your 20's or 30's but there are certain qualifications you need to meet then. I'm just not sure what they are. We didn't really go in-depth on them when I was in high school. :o

I know a ton of hearing impaired kids who really like music...I've never gotten it, either. Every time I'd ask, they always said, "I really like the beat." The same kids were the ones that LOVED NIN, ICP, etc. to death. :grady: So the only conclusion I can come up with is they like the beat of NIN, ICP, etc. because they're all loud music groups... I don't think they even read the lyrics to their songs. Whateva, though...It's over now. I graduated.

This reminds me of when I was at a honors banquet towards the end of my senior year...From my school, my ex-best friend (what a weirdo) and I got invited to the banquet. There were a couple of kids -- maybe 30 or so -- from area public schools that got invited to the banquet. Sometime during the banquet, they had a small choir come up and sing for us. After they were done, my ex best friend turned to me and said, "They had really nice voices." and I thought to myself, "WTF?" and just gave her a weird look.

Hearing impaired people are just as weird as people who can hear...

Thanks :)

My mom gave me a few choices of what I wanted us to do with my cat's body...We could 1) let the vets dispose of her themselves, 2) let the vets give it to us and then we would go over to my grandma's (my mom's mom) house and bury my cat in her backyard or 3) have her cremated and keep the ashes in a vase in the house.

I told my mom I wanted us to do option #2 - bury her in my grandma's backyard...It would be sooooo hard for me if we had her cremated. :( And there is NO WAY I am letting the vets dispose of her body.

That's what we did with a lot of our pets too...When I was a REALLY little girl (up til about 1987), we had a dog and he died of skin cancer...I don't remember him at all, but my mom told me about it. I honestly have no memory of him.

Then we had two birds. One was a cockatiel (Jose) and the other one, a parakeet (Bodhi). We got Jose in 1989 and Bodhi in 1991. Bodhi died in 1995...I wasn't sad when he died because my dad had him and I wasn't at his house a lot. Jose finally died in October of 2002...but he was pretty old for a bird, 13 at the time...so I wasn't sad when he died...he lived a long, full and healthy life, so that's great. :)

Then...in February 1995, my mom got 2 cats...Lucy and Ricky...sister and brother cats...Ricky got run over by a car in July of 1998...but I didn't miss him when he died because he wasn't very nice...He'd let you pet him, but if you petted him for too long, he'd try to bite you. ohno: After that happened, we got Buddy and we still have him now. Then two years ago in April of 2002, we got Desi and still have him too :)

My dad has two pets right now...my stepmom's cockatiel, Sammy...Sammy is like 11 years old, so it won't be long before Sammy joins our bird, Jose...and right now they also have a Shih Tzu dog named Pepper. She's just the cutest thing...She's a really well-behaved dog and loves attention too :D

Well, my last pet was a saint bernard and he died in Dec. he would have been 2 years old in April. My brothers has 2 dogs, but there not really mine. I prefer little pets like fish. I used to have one, but he died. I also had a turtle last year, but he died too. I've never had much luck with animals :(

You guys all remember that pic I posted about two months ago of all 3 of my cats cuddling together. Well...here it is...That's the chair they always slept on...Last night, I told myself I should just Shop-Vac the chair because it was REALLY hairy and I knew her hairs were all over the chair, so I just wanted to get it over and done with, so that I wouldn't have to Shop-Vac the chair later and be too choked up to do it...You know? I did it last night so it wouldn't be as hard for me...

Thank you, thank you.

It's a poem about the loss of a pet.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

When my cat died, one of the first things I did was go to www.petloss.com and soon after, I took part in the candle ceremony. Anyhow, it's a wonderful website Allison. Check it out when you're up to it.

Yeah, I threw away her little pillow and the little click thing we used when we wanted to call her over (because she was blind; so she could use it as a point of reference) right when I got home.

All 3 of my cats share a food bowl and they have a big bowl for water...so I can't get rid of it. Besides, I think of both as "The cats' food dish and water bowl" not as "Lucy's food dish"

I've kept all of his toys and even his little blanket. But the hardest thing for me was going into the kitchen, and sitting down in his favorite chair.

I plan on getting rid of the green pillowcase that all the cats slept on - it's in the pic a page back...Yep, that's the one. Besides, it's really old and one side of it is torn.

Lucy was like that on Saturday...Well, she COULD walk but she didn't want to go far. I was holding her and I will never forget that look she had on her face...she had a really sad, dazed look in her eyes...She seemed just out of it...That was the last time I ever saw her...

It was so funny. One of my friends from another message board was posting about how she went bar-hopping with her friends last night. My friend just turned 19 almost two weeks ago and lives in Canada, so she can drink legally now. She was buzzed when she made her thread, and she mentioned all the names of the bars she went to...one of them was also named Cheers and she started typing out the theme song to Cheers when she made her post...it was sooo funny
