In the episode, Getting Up the Rent, Willona calls J.J. Rodney Allen Ripoff.

This was a reference to the the little boy Rodney Allen Ripppy who was on the cover of Ebony Magazine the same month Good Times made it's debut on CBS which was February of 1974.

He actually got his start doing a Burger King commercial. He tried to eat a whopper but couldn't cause his mouth wasn't big enough! He did a few t.v roles but nothing really big came out of it. I believe he did a episode of the t.v drama Medical Center.
