Did Donna Reed, or any other cast members, do commercials for Campbell's or any other sponsor during a show? I have videos of a fair number of shows complete with original commercials, but none of mine have.

Here is a link to a site that has old commercials that you can watch online. I found one with Donna Reed doing a commercial for Campbell's Soup offer for soup bowls. http://www.roadode.com/eat_1.shtml (http://)

It's second from the top, on the right hand side.

yes, they did. In the 50s and 60s, cast members of TV shows had to do at least one commercial per show, for the shows sponsor(s).

If you look in the Photos section for The Donna Reed Show here at Sitcoms Online, I posted screen captures from four Singer cast commercials back in January.

So I guess the cast did commercials at least for Campbell's and Singer. I wonder what other products they did?

....Campbell Soup Company {Swanson TV dinners, Campbell Soups, Campbell's Pork & Beans, Franco-American canned spaghetti} sponsored "THE DONNA REED SHOW" on ABC during its first seven seasons (1958-'65), on alternate weeks. Johnson & Johnson {Band-Aid, Johnson's Baby Powder, etc.} was the show's "alternate sponsor" until 1963, when The Singer Company succeeded them for another two seasons. In fact, there's a 1964 Christmas album issued as a "special offer" by Singer at a discount [only available at your local Singer dealer!] which featured the entire cast on its cover. That turns up in a lot of garage sales, flea markets and thrift shops these days. I believe "participating sponsorship" carried the series through its final season (1965-'66).

Yes, 'treky', because most sponsors "controlled" the time period a TV show appeared in, the cast (or lead stars) usually did an "integrated" commercial for the sponsor(s) at the end of the show- this practice eventually died out
by the early '70s, the last known examples being the Kellogg's spots (featuring Shirley Jones & company) seen on "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY" and Liz Montgomery plugging Clairol hair care products on "BEWITCHED".

I wish they would continue doing that today, at least one commercial.
