Okay, I know that season 4 ended unexpectedly and surprised everyone with Julie and Jonathan marrying. However, what if there was one more episode to the season where the Chief deals with Jonathan being added to the household and accepts him as one of the family.
I am guessing this would take place the same day as the previous episode, as Nell is the only one who knows. Nell makes the family breakfast on this special occassion...that Julie was not actually "Kidnapped" and then Julie reveals to the Chief after he pigs out on Nell's cooking. I think this would really work well. I also think that the way Julie told us the story on how she told the Chief of her marriage to Jonathan would also work well...such as "Daddy...Jonathan and I got married". And then after he grounds them they walk off hand and hand upstairs to the bedroom and then the Chief comes down with a sickness because of Nell's cooking and what he has just heard.
(This would be in no way he would die from the cooking...LOL. But I guess it would be a funny and best way to have Julie breaking the news, as well as the indigestion).
I think this would have brought more closure to the character of the Chief. Really, it should have been a 2 part episode, but it wasn't. I guess the story would have been told in a flashback if the Chief had lived and they remember the day Julie broke the news.
Anyways...expect this episode to come soon.
