Me too. Ron was a major chain smoker on Barney Miller, especially during the show's first and second season; it seemed in every scene he had a cigarette in his mouth..He and Jack Soo smoked like there was no tomorrow..I felt sorry for the non-smokers on the Barney Miller set...I bet it smelled like a stale ashtray...

I know my parents brough a top-loading VCR before I was born, and we had that until...1989ish, 1990ish...and it was HUGE. I remember I used to try to shove my NES cartridges in there.

And remember how heavy the tapes were?

We also had one of those HUGE floor TV's when I was younger and I remember them really well.

I think they went to the regular size they are now, in the late 80's. I have a few VHS movies from back then in plastic boxes, and they're regular-sized now. I do have a Dumbo movie I got a really LONG time ago (the binding where it connects the top and bottom, broke when I was a really little girl) that's in a really stiff plastic box. If you go to the Family section -- or the Kids section at the video store, you will probably see the plastic boxes I'm talking about...they were white, with the name of the movie on the top with a square on the bottom, which had a screen grab of the movie on there, and the name and picture was always divided by a few orange lines. I don't remember when they came out with that, but I know Disney released a bunch of movies that way.

It makes me think of Emilio Estevez's character in The Outsiders, though. He was still watching Mickey Mouse cartoons as a teenager.
