Monique King, the 17-year-old girl whose false rape claim led to the 2002 shooting death of actor Merlin Santana, was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder, AP reports. On the night of the shooting, King apparently told the two men who were convicted of killing Santana that the actor had made unwanted advances towards her, spurring the men into shooting Santana--best known for his recurring role on The Steve Harvey Show--as he sat in the passenger seat of a car. The girl later admitted the rape claim was a lie, AP reports.

Yes, it was sad when I first heard the news he was killed. Now, to see that he lost his life over something that senseless, there's no words to express how disgusting that is.

They should give that b***h life for lying on Merlin like that. He was a talented actor & it's a shame to see he was murdered over a lie.

I agree. what's worse is that he had a child. and he was, from what I understand, a really dedicated father to his daughter. now his child will grow up without her father, all because someone decided it would be fun to concoct a vicious lie. this lie cost merlin his life, and he had nothing to do with this girl. the courts will do what they will with her, but she has to answer to God in the end.
