That's pretty much what prompted it, although I'm sure they were thinking that they'd get married eventually.

yeah when Dan and Roseanne were on the Jerry Springer Show (episode 201: What A Day For A Daydream) Dan said "I had a heart attack at my daughter's wedding....they kinda had to get married..." and Roseanne says "Dan don't say that on television!" (I'm not sure of the exact wording but that's what I remember. From that I guess you're right.

so, does that mean they didn't love each other when they got married or did they get back together before then?

I think Darlene and David would eventually got married. Darlene does say to Roseanne in the engagement episode that she loves David. David also thought they should get married in the 6th season. At the end of the 6th season they also talk about the future and kids and Darlene's career.

They were already back together by that point...which is the reason Darlene got pregnant in the first place.;)
