I had just heard about this where like TONS of Ground Round restaurants suddenly closed and no one really knows why! It's weird because I just went to eat at one of those like a month ago and now they're gone. One of the articles I was reading about said they didn't just sort of close casually but like in the middle of the day when the restaurants were open they had to have the customers leave and close like that! They're food was OK, but not the best. If you go to google and type in ground round under the news part you'll find a lot of articles about it.

Hmmm...I was just out last night to eat at the Applebee's here...We were going to eat at the Ground Round (which is RIGHT next door to Applebee's), but we decided not to, because the parking lot there was full...So the GR here is still open.

Must be a Midwest thing. I see THBM is from WI and I'm just two states over to the west...There's a Ground Round near where I live...They've got them all over the state here.

I never heard of the place before. I did a net search: Apparently only the corporate-owned stores have been closed. Franchises owned by other people/companies are still open.
Here is a sample news report:

Same here...but that's weird they would close mid-day and kick people out.

Ours closed a long time ago. But I still remember the time we went and there were ants crawling on the wall.

I've been to the one in my town a few times before - at least once/twice a year...it's very clean :)

I hate Ground Round. I ate there once and they really burn the food so it tastes like you're eating charcoal.

From what the boards and posts have suggested the food chain probably makes food and when it hits the floor the servers and cooks put it back on the fryer and/or grill and then serve the "so-called charcoal" to the customers!!

I've never heard of it. Is it like The King's Round Table, Golden Caral(spelling?) or Ryan's? Both the Golden Caral(spelling?) and Ryan's are resturants in Texas, and The King's Round Table is a resturant in Washington State. I don't like Ryan's.
It's basically a family restaurant (like Applebee's and whatnot). I'm surprised to hear all that bad crap about Ground Round, because the one I have here is right next door to Applebee's and it's very clean and the food is great.

It's not really like Golden Corral. Never been to our Ryan's.
But there's no buffet at Ground Round.
