Sitcom Legend Bob Denver Passes Away

Today we will pay respect to sitcom legend Bob Denver. He passed away Friday and it was first announced this afternoon by Entertainment Tonight. Bob Denver's official website has a nice tribute to him. Please view that here. If you would like to send your thoughts or send flowers to the Denver family, you can do so by clicking here.
Bob of course was famous for his role as Willy Gilligan in Gilligan's Island. Prior to his role as Gilligan, Bob played Dobie's friend on The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis. But it was Gilligan that many fans recognize him as. Some never knew his real name, and just called him Gilligan. He also voiced Gilligan on two animated series The New Adventures of Gilligan and Gilligan's Planet. There were even three reunion movies of Gilligan's Island from 1978 to 1981: Rescue from Gilligan's Island, Castaways on Gilligan's Island, and The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island. He even played Gilligan on other series as a special guest star, such as ALF, The New Gidget, Baywatch, Meego, and Roseanne. He also played himself on Evening Shade, Herman's Head, The Simpsons, & Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Gilligan's Island airs Saturday mornings on The Hallmark Channel. Hallmark has not announced any immediate plans to air a marathon of the show. TV Land could plan a tribute marathon as well. Both Dobie and Gilligan airings would be nice. I will let everyone know when and if TV Land or any other network will air a marathon or a tribute for Mr. Denver. You can buy all three seasons of Gilligan's Island on DVD today by going to our Gilligan's Island section. We will all miss Bob Denver, but he forever will be on television until the end of time. Mr. Denver was 70 years old.

UPDATE: GSN will be airing a tribute to Bob Denver. GSN will air two game shows that featured Denver on Friday, September 9 with BEAT THE CLOCK from 1972 at 3 AM ET/PT and PASSWORD from 1966 at 3:30 AM ET/PT.
